Belonging to each other has many layers. We belong to each other simply because we are all here, but closer to home, there are communities I choose to "belong" to. Belonging means I show up, I offer support if it's needed, and I ask for help when I need it. I feel safe. I can rest in community, but I have a responsibility to participate, too. In practice this means I call a friend when I notice she seems depressed. I bring food and visit with friends who are struggling with illness. I ask for prayers when my son loses his job. I show up for work days at the church. I help a friend clear out a ho…
