What does it mean that we belong to each other? What does this look like in practice, not just in theory?
How might the ashes rubbed on our forehead during Ash Wednesday serve as a symbol or reminder of reconciliation or belonging?
Belonging to each other has many layers. We belong to each other simply because we are all here, but closer to home, there are communities I choose to "belong" to. Belonging means I show up, I offer support if it's needed, and I ask for help when I need it. I feel safe. I can rest in community, but I have a responsibility to participate, too. In practice this means I call a friend when I notice she seems depressed. I bring food and visit with friends who are struggling with illness. I ask for prayers when my son loses his job.
