WHO WE ARE

Pilgrimage United Church of Christ is a progressive Christian church located in Marietta, Georgia. For the past 20 years we have been an Open and Affirming congregation; one that welcomes everyone.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

It’s simple.  We believe that God's love is for everyone (yes, we really mean everyone.)  Throughout the worship service you will hear important messages that reaffirm God’s unconditional love for you.  It doesn’t matter who you are, or who you love, everyone is welcome at Pilgrimage United Church of Christ.  From the moment you reach the driveway you will see and feel the extravagant welcome Pilgrimage United Church of Christ provides.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Pilgrimage United Church of Christ offers two service times.  While the hymns, liturgy, and sermon are the same in both services, there are noticeable differences in the format of each service.

8:30 AM Service

As an intimate and meditative worship, the 8:30 service usually has a smaller group of participants.  For those wanting a weekly communion experience, this is the service for you.  Congregants wishing to participate, gather at the Communion table and the pastor will serve a piece of bread and offer juice for dipping your piece of bread.  We offer a ritual of healing (laying of the hands) by request and focused prayer for anyone in need.  Please contact the pastor at pastor@pilgrimageucc.org.  Music is piano only with occasional special performances.  We’d love to have you join us.

10:00 AM Service

A traditional service with contemporary elements added in, the late service offers adult voice choir and occasional solos.  Our handbell choir and children's choir perform on special occasions.  Children ages 3 years through 2nd grade are encouraged to attend the first part of the service, which includes a children’s sermon.  Upon the conclusion of the children’s sermon, they can participate in “Faith Formation” in our Fellowship Hall which offers a craft and is activity related to the scripture and sermon. Children return to the sanctuary in time for communion, passing of the peace, and the congregational song, "Let There be Peace on Earth."   Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month through the process of intinction.  The worship service concludes with everyone in the congregation gathering in a large circle around the sanctuary and singing Let There be Peace on Earth.

CHILD CARE

A nursery is provided for children aged 0-3 years during the 10:00 am service time.  An usher or greeter will direct you to the nursery upon your arrival.  Our nursery is staffed by a well-qualified member of our community who will welcome your child with loving care.  The nursery is equipped with a pack and play, bouncer seat, and exersaucer jumper for the little ones and plenty of toys for toddlers, twos, and threes.

YOUR ARRIVAL

Before you arrive, please know that you you won’t see Pilgrimage from the road, only the sign.  As you turn into the entrance and drive up the hill you will eventually see Pilgrimage UCC through the trees.  Parking is available directly in front of the church, on either side of the lot.

As you enter the main building, you will be welcomed by an usher who will provide you with a bulletin, information about Pilgrimage, and will gladly help you find a seat in our sanctuary.  Feel free to come with a cup of coffee or pick one up from the fellowship area opposite the sanctuary before the service begins.
