Jeremiah 32:1-3a

Jeremiah Buys a Field During the Siege

Today’s scripture is a prelude to more of the predictions of this chapter, both threatenings and promises, which are much the same with what we have already met with again and again. At this time, Jeremiah was imprisoned in the dungeon beneath the palace while the Babylonian army was surrounding and attacking Jerusalem. Jeremiah was imprisoned by King Zedekiah because he continued to prophesy that the city would be conquered by the king of Babylon, not King Zedekiah. As this story continues to unfold over the next few days, use today’s words as a reminder to keep focus on the Word of God. For when things look meek and dreary, God always has a way to show us the Way.

Prayer:

God, thank you for today’s reminder to stay focused on you and on the hope and love you instill within me every day. AMEN
