My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes beheld my unformed substance. In your book were written all the days that were formed for me, when none of them as yet existed.
Reflection by Janet Derby
September in the UCC for the last several years has been a celebration of creation. As with everything else in this strange year of the global pandemic, the topic takes on a whole new meaning. We are learning that we are safer outside which gives us a greater respect for the air and all that surrounds us. It also gives us, like the psalmist, a deep appreciation for the intricacies of God’s work. It is awesome to consider how God envisioned the world and all its interwoven pieces. It can be both comforting and occasionally frightening to recognize that God knows us to the depths of our soul. Still, it is astounding to understand the breadth of God’s care for us and all of creation.
Creator and Creating God,
During this scary time, help us to appreciate your universe and the love you have for all of life. May we aware of our environment and tend to it in ways to benefit the Earth and its inhabitants.
