2 Timothy 2:8-13
Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, a descendant of David—that is my gospel, for which I suffer hardship, even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But the word of God is not chained. Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, so that they may also obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. The saying is sure:
If we have died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he will also deny us; if we are faithless, he remains faithful— for he cannot deny himself.
Reflection by Duke Yaguchi
God is good. My mom recently passed away. Her second child, a daughter, was stillborn. When I came along she was disappointed. She would tell me almost weekly that she wished I was a girl. Growing up I didn't know about her lost child. I just assumed she wanted someone to shop with and cook with and sew with. But she had a hidden resentment of me.
It wasn't until around the time my Dad died that she would tell me out loud that she loved me.
But as her dementia grew, she forgot all that and became very appreciative of our relationship. For that I thank God for His faithfulness.
Dear Mother God it is better late than never. Thanks for bringing to me the blessings of a mother's love.
