Psalm 66:1-4
Praise for God’s Goodness to Israel
To the leader. A Song. A Psalm.
Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth; sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise. Say to God, ‘How awesome are your deeds! Because of your great power, your enemies cringe before you. All the earth worships you; they sing praises to you, sing praises to your name.’ Selah
Reflection by Lynne Buell
So, who are God’s enemies? Does God even have enemies? That is the piece of the scripture that puzzled me at first. Then, in my mind, I kind of worked it out.
I do believe that people are angry with God. But this doesn’t make them God’s enemies. And don’t judge me, but I don’t believe in the devil or Satan. I only believe that we do not listen to the Holy Spirit for guidance and we subsequently make poor choices. I also believe that God’s love for us overcomes the anger we may have. Like the contestants have on the game show, The Price Is Right, we have a second chance to realize this love God has for us. And then we can sing praises to Selah.
Amen.
