2 Thessalonians 2:13-17
Chosen for Salvation
But we must always give thanks to God for you, brothers and sisters beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the first fruits for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and through belief in the truth. For this purpose he called you through our proclamation of the good news, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by our letter.
Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and through grace gave us eternal comfort and good hope, comfort your hearts and strengthen them in every good work and word.
Devotion by Julia Shiver
Every so often, I have a rare quiet moment. No chores, errands, meals to cook, office work on my immediate ToDo lists. It is then I contemplate my place in the universe and how I came to be me. I am so grateful to have been born into a life that recognizes the need I have for a spiritual connection to the world. And even better, I was born into a family and life that recognizes God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit as the focus of that spiritual connection. The world is a big place. I could have easily grown up a different religion, or no religion at all. I don’t think that salvation and eternal life are only for Christians, or Christians who believe a certain way. I’m just glad that I was born into a spiritual life that nurtures my soul, gives me a foundation for all that I do, and guides my way in the dark times.
