1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

For the Lord himself, with a cry of command, with the archangel’s call and with the sound of God’s trumpet, will descend from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up in the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the air; and so we will be with the Lord for ever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.

Devotion by Lynne Buell

This scripture makes me wonder if I’m actually ready for Judgement Day. I am on a true faith journey, but am I ready? And since I’m a human being, I have many faults that I still need to work on. But this past week has been a difficult challenge for me—and I’m sure for everyone who is experiencing the most intense election there ever was. I’ve had many, many, many unkind thoughts. So, if tomorrow were Judgement Day, would I be among those who will meet and greet Jesus?

Loving God I ask for your help to keep me humble and kind during these trying times. Provide comfort for all who are suffering from anxiety and provide the hope that all will turn out good. Amen.
