‘I ask not only on behalf of these, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.

This scripture is part of the prayer prayed by Jesus with his disciples just before his crucifixion. It is Christ’s final prayer, laying out God’s design for the world - a world of believers, united in love with Jesus, God, the Holy Spirit, and with each other.
Right now we seem to be further from this world of believers than we ever have been. There is so much dividing us. There is so much in the world that separates us, distracts us. But we hold on to the great vision that God has of us all living in unity, all of us filled with God’s love. And by our belief in God and God’s love, we help that vision come a little closer to reality.
Dear God, Please fill me with your love so that I can be your love to those I meet. Amen.
