Acts 2:1-2

On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place. Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting.

Devotion by Chris Shiver

Though I have certainly communicated with God when I was by myself in prayer, or reading the Bible or spiritual material, or even listening to praise music, I know that my most powerful spiritual experiences have been when meeting with other believers, or in meeting and witnessing to those whose hearts were opening to what God wants to do. One of the reasons I have been attracted to the Kairos prison ministry for so long is that both during the team spiritual formation events, and even more so when we are sharing with and listening to the institution residents, I can feel the power of God’s presence as the Spirit opens doors of freedom to those who have only known bondage. At Pilgrimage also, in the inclusive welcome that I believe represents what Jesus came to show us, I can feel the Spirit of God at work each time I am there.

My Prayer:

Jesus, I pray that I will never lose the desire to meet with others for the sole purpose of worshiping and learning more about you. Amen.
