Revelation 22:13,16

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.’ ‘It is I, Jesus, who sent my angel to you with this testimony for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.’

Reflection by Janet Derby

The Bible has many descriptions of Jesus: Lamb of God, Prince of Peace, Light of the World, Bread of Life, to name just a few. When I read the ones in these verses in Revelation, I realized that they are similar. The root of Jesse refers to Jesus as the foundation or beginning of our faith, while the descendant of David indicates Jesus is the culmination and future of God’s kin-dom. Today at Pilgrimage, we recognized Mariah Durkee as she has graduated from high school and moves on to the next chapter in her life. Mariah has been attending Pilgrimage since she was a small child and it has been our responsibility and privilege to give her faith roots. We have seen her grow into a wonderful young woman who continues to share her faith with others. We as a church must continue to provide roots and wings for all of our children.

Alpha and Omega God,

Thank you for the opportunity to share our faith with your children. Help us continue to help their light to shine for you. Amen.
