Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. And day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.
Reflection by Duke Yaguchi
This describes people in community, people praying and eating together. With God's blessing, their numbers grew.
Today is a different time. Even though we have seven and a half billion people on this tiny planet, in times of Covid, we can feel that we are praying in isolation, eating in isolation, and I suspect the world population may be in slight decline.
I know of people who are sharing meals virtually, and I hope you are joining us at Pilgrimage UCC for virtual service each Sunday morning. Even though we cannot be together at the same location, we can be together at the same time, in community electronically. Even though it is not the same, neither is it being in complete isolation.
I thank God that we have the ability to church together in community while staying safe.
Thanks be to God! Amen.
