Six Days of Creation and the Sabbath
In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters. Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light. And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.
Devotion by Lynne Buell
The Bible indicates that it took God six days for creation and on the seventh, God rested. How many times did God begin a process, realizing it wouldn’t work, recreate another plan, toss it aside, and so on and so forth, until the final task of creation was in place? I actually think that God was excited about the success of this work once it was done. The good news is that God’s work continues. We read about it in the Bible, and we see it every day in our lives. Yes, we are in a new year and some people expected a miracle turnaround from this period of uncertainty and anxiety. What is comforting is knowing that God is preparing for and will reveal good things to happen at just the right time. All we need to do is be receptive and always maintain faith in the love God has for us.
As we open our minds to your Spirit, we will seek your wisdom so that we can live the lives that you intend us to live. Amen.
