Luke 3:10-11 (The Message)

10 The crowd asked him, “Then what are we supposed to do?”

11 “If you have two coats, give one away,” he said. “Do the same with your food.”

Devotion by Lily Appleton

In the beginning of this passage, we find out that John is traveling and preaching the message he received from God and Pontius Pilot was the governor of Judea. John preaches about the life change that leads to people having their sins forgiven. John talks about giving our life and asks if it's green and flourishing or if it is dead. The crowds gather wondering what they can do. They are told if they have two coats, give away one, same with their food. This tells me that God wants us to share our wealth with others. We are to share what we have. Late this summer and early fall, many of you shared with me what you have to help pay with bills. I am so grateful for a community who practices this scripture. So, thank you. We must continue to share what we have to keep our life "green and flourishing."

Prayer

God, help me to share what I have with others to keep my life "green and flourishing." Help me to recognize where I can help others so they may feel your love. Amen.
