Psalm 71:4-6

Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked,

from the grasp of the unjust and cruel.

For you, O Lord, are my hope,

my trust, O Lord, from my youth.

Upon you I have leaned from my birth;

it was you who took me from my mother’s womb.

My praise is continually of you.

God has been with us from the time we were even a thought. Today’s scripture verses remind us that we are never alone. Whether we can feel it all of the time or not, God is present to care for us and to be a pillar for us when we need a little extra strength. How do you feel God in your daily life? When was your earliest experience with God?

I remember being elementary school and my best friend had forgotten her lunch (or maybe it was the other way around - it’s been YEARS). One of us did have a lunch so we decided to split it “like Jesus did the loaves and fishes.” I can remember being amazed all afternoon how full I felt and the same was true for my friend. I can remember saying to her, “I think that when you share with love in your heart it can really fill you up. Maybe that is what happened on the mountain with the loaves and fishes.” That was the first experience I can remember where I knew that God was with me at school and with my friend. Write your story down so you don’t forget and use it as a reminder that God is our hope and trust.

God, thank you for always being present in our lives. Even though I cannot remember you in my mother’s womb, I can see you in other parts of my life. AMEN.
