Romans 8:28 New International Version (NIV)
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Devotion by Laurie Spencer
Today is a Palm Sunday like none other than we have ever known. This is a time to mourn the loss of so much. I’m already grieving the loss of my Easter traditions, of playing in the bell choir next week, of not seeing children running after eggs and being a part of my Pilgrimage community. I watch the news and grieve with families that have lost loved ones to this horrid virus. My heart breaks for the medical community and first responders who are doing everything they can to save lives and are losing many patients.
I chose this passage today although it departs from the Easter story About which I was supposed to write. The past few weeks this reminder to ‘WMY’, (Wash My Hands) has been sitting on my computer. This morning, it’s time to focus on knowing that through this whole experience God travels with us.
There have been worse things throughout history and surely there will be worse days ahead. Yet one thing we can rely on is the consistency of God’s word. We place our fears and sorrow upon the almighty Father Mother God, and we find a safe place to rest.
Father, Mother God, in you we find salvation. This has always been a truth and always will be a truth. Give us the focus needed to be in communion with you as we walk through the days ahead. Amen.
