In that renewal there is no longer Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and free; but Christ is all and in all!
Reflection by Duke Yaguchi
I recently saw the movie, Crazy Rich Asians. I'm not sure if the title meant they were crazy rich, or crazy and rich. Any interpretation seemed to fit the movie. Throughout the film, there was judgment and mental math of evaluating whether someone was more than, less than or equal to someone else. In Asian cultures this is very true. But Jesus didn't see the world that way. He saw everyone as deserving love. He spent His time with the least of us.
This scripture lists the diversity of the region and the time. There was no world travel back then. The author is conveying the message that Christ dwells in each of us, every one of us! If this is true, why would anyone want to treat anyone badly? Besides, if we can do without the mental math of judgment, living life is so much easier. There is no calculation required. X=Y is the only equation necessary.
Dear Lord, Jesus accepted everyone no matter his/her society standing. Please help me be less judgmental and more loving. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
