Then he said to his slaves, “The wedding is ready, but those invited were not worthy. Go therefore into the main streets, and invite everyone you find to the wedding banquet.” Those slaves went out into the streets and gathered all whom they found, both good and bad; so the wedding hall was filled with guests.
Reflection by Duke Yaguchi
The wedding banquet host was miffed because the intended guests decided not to attend. I've been to many a wedding where people didn't bother to rsvp and there were empty chairs for those missing guests. It must have been a regular occurrence even thousands of years ago.
Likewise, God has extended an invitation to everyone. People can decide to accept the invitation or not. God's banquet hall has no capacity limits. God makes no judgment. His love is offered to all. There's always room for one more.
Recently, one of our own, Glen, passed away. He recently played the role of Jesus in our summer skit, "Weeds". Somehow, I think Jesus gave Glen a compliment on his portrayal as He welcomed Glen into the grand banquet hall in the sky.
Dear Lord, I accept Your invitation to the final banquet. I look forward to feasting with all of those who are waiting there for me. In Jesus' name, I pray.
