Luke 8:45-46 45
“Who touched me?” Jesus asked. When all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.” 46. But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.”
Reflection by Darlene Wagner
Christ was fully aware of when His energy flowed out towards people in need of healing. He also knew that the woman with the obstetric fistula and/or bleeding condition was the one who drew so deeply upon His energy. He asks, “Who touched me?” for the healed woman’s benefit, not to seek an answer from his disciples. Christ wanted the healed woman to follow through on her commitment and own up to touching him. She was “unclean” and thus excluded from the community, so it was risky for her to admit to having touched Jesus. Yet, opening up to the crowd about the healing was precisely what her commitment entailed. In my own life, when I am in the process of receiving healing, I commit to acknowledging the healing through prayers or meditation.
