Colossians 3:12-13

As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.

Reflection by Duke Yaguchi

It is easy for me to forgive when the infraction is small. It is easy for me to forgive when the infraction is accidental. It is easy for me to forgive when the infraction is a result of ignorance or thoughtlessness or hurriedness or busyness. It is far more difficult for me to be forgiving when the infraction is large, repeated, planned with the intent to hurt or belittle.

In this scripture, there are no ands, ifs, or buts. There are no conditions, or measures of magnitude. It simply instructs us to forgive. It's hard to do sometimes.

Prayer

Dear God. If God can forgive me, help me to forgive others. Everyone. No matter what the reason. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
