John 6:41-47

Then the Jews began to complain about him because he said, ‘I am the bread that came down from heaven.’ They were saying, ‘Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, “I have come down from heaven”?’ Jesus answered them, ‘Do not complain among yourselves. No one can come to me unless drawn by the Father who sent me; and I will raise that person up on the last day. It is written in the prophets, “And they shall all be taught by God.” Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me. Not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God; he has seen the Father. Very truly, I tell you, whoever believes has eternal life.

Devotion by Julia Shiver

My life is centered around my Christian faith. It is my heritage by way of where and when I was born, and who my family is. It is also mine because of the choices I have made in life. It is what grounds me in this world.

The image above is of a necklace that Chris gave me last week for my birthday (at my request.) It is an artist’s interpretation of the classic COEXIST bumper sticker. Various expressions of faith and spirituality are represented, all centered around the peace symbol. That is how I see faith, how I see a relationship with God. In my mind, God is too big to be confined to only one religion or faith. There are many paths to God. But I am very glad that my path to God is through Jesus Christ.

Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.
