ADULT CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
Finding your spiritual path involves wrestling with difficult questions of faith. Pilgrimage creates a space where people can safely wrestle with questions that can lead them to deeper faith.
Adult Sunday School
Classes meet September through May each Sunday after the 10 AM worship service. Sessions are held in our sanctuary and generally stay with a topic for 6-8 weeks. Past classes that have inspired thought-provoking discussions include:
Living the Questions
Reader's Theater Sessions
Praying the Lord’s Prayer in Aramaic
Marcus Borg’s The Heart of Christianity
Sometimes the class will debrief the worship service and sermon and then make connections between worship and their “real lives.”
Christian Education isn't primarily about acquiring more knowledge or information. Knowledge must be in service to Christian transformation--of ourselves, of our communities, and of unjust systems. It is about broadening and expanding the spiritual journey, starting wherever we are, and following Jesus wherever he takes us.
If a later time for Adult Sunday School isn't for you, we offer a Bible study class at 8:30 AM each Sunday morning as well. The class is focused on the scripture reading for that Sunday and is taught by one of our members.
Pilgrimage currently has one book group which meets the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM. Discussions are always lively and give participants the opportunity to share more deeply with others.
Small Group Ministries
Pilgrimage also offers other small group ministry programs throughout the year. These groups are based on current needs, interests of members, or the particular season of the church year. Groups have included:
Lenten Book Study
Women's Spirituality Group
Men's Fellowship Group
Spiritual Seekers Group
Various Prayer Workshops
Exploring White Privilege
