Sunday School
Christian Education is an important part of the
Sunday morning schedule at Pilgrimage. Sunday school for all
ages begins approximately 15 minutes after the end of our 10
a.m. worship service (generally at 11:20). Children will begin
with a short introductory time of fellowship before
going to a story time and a craft/mission time. They gather
together again to close with joys and concerns and a prayer
time. Two youth classes (mid-high and senior high) also meet.
The mid-high class meets in the pastor's study while the senior
high group meets in the youth minister's office. Adults
are invited to get a cup of coffee and join the
Coffee Conversation group in the sanctuary. Check with an
usher, greeter, or good news team member (who wear purple
ribbons on their name badges) for where all our classes meet. We look
forward to seeing you on Sunday! |
Conversation on Climate Change
As Christians, the prospect of climate change presents us with responsibilities and opportunities. What are they and why? On Sunday the 28th of February, the second Sunday in Lent, we’ll hear about this at the Sunday School hour from a small group of our members who plan to present four programs on this subject as Lent goes on. They have brushed up on it and to them it is a very serious subject indeed. Many of us have been concerned with reducing our individual “carbon footprints,” but we’ll hear that, as necessary as this is, far more is required.
For this special event, we will come together to hear the first of a series of presentations on the moral and spiritual, political (We won’t take sides!) and scientific aspects of climate change and its consequences. Based on what could happen, this could become the greatest material concern in the lives of some of us, our youth and our children and grandchildren, and particularly in the lives of the poorest of Earth’s people. Come and find out more!
The four sessions are as follows:
1) Getting real. Learning some of the scary facts of climate change.
2) The SCIENCE of climate change.
3) The POLITICS of climate change.
4) The MORAL/THEOLOGICAL Issues at stake in climate change.
We should have some really terrific dialogue. We hope you'll join us.
