Music Ministry
Current Musical Opportunities at Pilgrimage
Pilgrimage Sanctuary
Choir. This is the principal
musical group of the church, which sings a wide variety of
choral music styles. Membership is open to anyone who
enjoys singing. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings from
7:00-8:30. The choir sings regularly at the 11:00 worship
service,
September through May. The choir presents a Christmas
program each December in both services and also sings in
both services on Easter.

Pilgrimage Chamber
Singers. A smaller group, two to
three people per part, drawn mostly from the Sanctuary
Choir. Most of the music is sung unaccompanied.
This group rehearses
from 8:30-9:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of
the month.
They sing mostly at the 8:30 a.m. worship service. Members need to
commit to singing at both services, since they are drawn
from the Sanctuary choir. Because of the small size of the
group and the limited rehearsal time, members need to have
good music reading skills and feel secure singing their
parts in a small group. Contact the Director of Music if
you are
interested in participating.
Young Singers of
Pilgrimage. A beginning musical
group for children ages 3-7. The children learn basic vocal
skills as well as beginning musical skills such as basic
rhythms and pitch matching. The children also learn
age-appropriate concepts of faith through the music they
sing. Currently the children rehearse on Wednesday
evenings
from 6 - 6:40 p.m.
Rehearsals go from
September through May, and the group sings regularly in 11:00 a.m.
worship. They will begin rehearsing for the Family Christmas Eve service
in October.

Pilgrimage Choristers.
Pilgrimage’s older children’s group, ages 8-12. Children
learn basic music reading skills and good singing skills.
They also learn age-appropriate concepts of faith through
the music they sing. Currently the children rehearse
on Wednesday evenings
from 6 - 6:40 p.m.
Rehearsals go from
September through May, and the group sings regularly in 11:00 a.m.
worship. They will begin rehearsing for the Family Christmas Eve service
in October.
Harper-Williams Memorial
Handbell Choir. This is the
church's principal handbell
choir for experienced ringers. Participants know how to read
music and know basic handbell ringing skills. They rehearses the
first and third Wednesday of each month from 8:30-9:30 p.m.
The group performs regularly
in worship. The handbell choir exists because of the generous
gifts to the church of a two octave set of Malmark handbells by
Ms. Mimi Harper in memory of her husband, Dick Harper; a third
octave was given by Ms. Joan Williams in memory of her husband,
Dick Williams.
Beginning Bells.
A handbell training choir that meets at arranged times
determined by the interest of potential members. Membership is
open to anyone. Members learn basic ringing techniques, and
when necessary, music reading skills. The goal is for members
to progress to the principal handbell choir as soon as
possible.
Pilgrimage Liturgical
Dancers. A liturgical dance group for
youth and adults. Rehearsal times are arranged around
performance opportunities. Open to anyone interested in
liturgical dance.
Young Dancers of
Pilgrimage. A children’s liturgical
dance group where children learn to praise God and express their
faith through movement. Open to children of all ages.
Rehearsals are scheduled around performance occasions.
Soloists and Ensembles.
Persons who enjoy singing or playing solos are always encouraged
to contact the Director of Music, who will find or create an
opportunity for them. Groups of instrumentalists are also
encouraged to meet together and prepare pieces of all styles for
worship. |
